Kandi VS. Porsha...DISH Nation alright!

Kandi Burrus is reminding fans that Porsha Williams has a history of homophobic comments. Amidst reports that Porsha and Kandi have serious beef, Kandi told a reporter that their relationship is beyond repair. Over this season of Real Housewives of Atlanta, viewers have watched Kandi rip into Porsha, among others, for what she perceived as a lack of support for her during her ongoing feud with co-star Phaedra Parks. The fight doesn’t stop there. According to Daily Mail, Kandi warns us that things between she and Porsha are getting to get “so much worse.”

In an upcoming episode, Porsha makes some stunning allegations about Kandi being a lesbian and having threesomes. A shrewd businesswoman, Kandi is not the kind of woman to pick fights with if you don’t have too. In this instance, she handles Porsha appropriately while avoiding offending any viewers and fans. Kandi says she supports same-sex relations, but obviously not with Porsha. She also goes on to remind us that Porsha came under fire in 2014 for being the original Kim Burrell.

TMZ leaked an anti-gay sermon being peached by Porsha from 2010, in which she preached about the need to “save the gays.” Porsha apologized for her remarks and they were soon forgotten about, showing how unimportant she was at the time. Porsha’s ex, Kordell Stewart, has also accused Porsha of leading the gay rumors that he can’t seem to shake. Kordell even filed suit against Porsha last year, after a video showing his man parts was leaked without audio. The leaked video was alleged to have come from his male lover. Kordell says otherwise, that Porsha was behind the leak. What kills me is that Porsha tries her damnedest to act like a gay man on the show, but yet you have such an obsession with homosexuality. It seems like its  always the thots who come for the gays.

Nicki Minaj is going to Make America Great Again...Really Soon!

Making America Great Again: Nicki Minaj is dropping her fourth album soon!

Ms. Minaj recently hinted around to dropping her fourth album after breaking up with Meek Mill. Like every woman after a breakup, Minaj dismisses her ex and questions about him by reasserting her dedication to her massive career. Minaj worked with DJ Mustard on the new set, which she describes as “epic.”

Minaj’s ex-boyfriend recently deleted his Instagram account again after posting a message that many consider to be a shot at Minaj. In the now deleted post, Meek Mill posted a photo of him sitting on the hood of his car. He then captioned the post with “Left my Bent in her driveway…her ex n***a embarrassed. Is Mill hinting that Minaj’s other ex, Safaree? Mill was recently spotted in Atlanta with Keke Palmer, who he was rumored to have dated in 2014.

Stay tuned for more on Nicki in 2017. I have a feeling she is the next artist to drop an album in the middle of the night (a la Beyonce). Until then, you can catch Nicki on the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack and an upcoming David Guetta single with PARTYNEXTDOOR.

You won't believe how much Gaga is getting paid to perform at Super Bowl LI!

Apparently, there is a petition going around to have Lady Gaga replaced as the headliner for Super Bowl LI Halftime Show. The "Bad and Boujee" rap trio recently hit number one with the aforementioned single, but is that enough to put them on the world's biggest stage? Some people think so. The petition, which can be signed at Change.org comes on the heels of the Atlanta Falcons' entrance into the NFL's biggest game. Migos also hail from the Atlanta area and recently released their second major label album Culture

It is also being reported that Gaga will perform for free at the big game, following in the footsteps of  Beyonce and Bruno Mars. According to Forbes. com, the NFL does not pay the halftime talent to perform. In exchange, the talent gets the exposure of over 200 million television sets. Beyonce used the platform last year to launch her Formation Tour and a few years back, she launched the Mrs. Carter World Tour, after headlining the halftime show. The Mrs. Carter World Tour grossed over $229 million, and the Formation Tour grossed over $256 million. The trade off is well worth it.

In other news related to Gaga, there are rumors that she has been pressured by the NFL to avoid making any political statements during the show. Gaga fervently supported Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election and has been an outspoken critic of the current "president." A spokesperson for the NFL says that the Super Bowl is a time for all of us to come together but denies the rumor.

#OscarsSoBlack #OscarsSoHistoric

Last year's #OscarsSoWhite will have to be put on hold this year, and possibly forever after this year's nominees were announced. For the first time in the history of the awards, African-Americans are nominated in every acting category. Viola Davis becomes the first African-American actress to have three Academy Award nominations, following her third nomination for Fences. Three predominantly black movies, Hidden Figures, Fences, and Moonlight are nominated for best picture.

A fourth film, Manchester by the Sea, is produced by Kimberly Steward, along with Matt Damon. Kimberly Steward is the daughter of David Steward, owner of one the largest African-American businesses in America. Steward's film was nominated for a total of six Academy Awards this year. Pharrell Williams also earns his second Oscar nod as a producer for Hidden Figures. Williams was previously nominated for best song for "Happy."

Denzel Washington received his third nomination this year for his role in Fences. Ruth Negga, an Ethiopian-Irish actress in nominated for Best Actress for her role in Loving. Mahershela Ali earned a Best Supporting Actor nod for his role in Moonlight. The Best Supporting Actress category is crowded this year with black actresses. Viola Davis for Fences, Naomie Harris for Moonlight, and Octavia Spencer for Hidden Figures will compete with Nicole Kidman and Michelle Williams for the gold statue.

August Wilson becomes the first Pulitzer Prize winner and the eighth writer to be nominated posthumously. Wilson is nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay for Fences. Ava Duvernay's documentary on the black prison population, 13th, earns a nod for Best Documentary, along with I Am Not Your Negro, a documentary by Haitian filmmaker Raoul Peck. Barry Jenkins, fresh off his Golden Globe win for Best Director, is nominated for Moonlight in the Best Director category. All this, just in time for Black History Month. The Oscars air on ABC on February 26, 2017.

India.Arie defends Chrisette Michele

Please! No More!….India.Arie defends Chrisette Michele in open letter.

Things are continuing to get more complicated for music fans like me. After Chrisette Michele was blasted for performing at the inauguration, she conveniently dropped a new track titled “No Political Genius.” The timing and name of the track only adds fuel to the fire for those who feel that Chrisette may be using the backlash to recharge her career. She has been out of the spotlight for quite some time and the media attention given to her performance has created a visibility that she has arguably never had before.

I was disappointed in Chrisette’s placement, not performance at the Inauguration. In my mind, I pictured her having an iconic moment singing for a president amidst a crowd of people who probably never heard of her. Instead, Chrisette performed ad-libs for a track that is nearly two years old, that will not even benefit her because it was not her song. Her performance was not at the actual inauguration, but one of the stages later that evening.

Since news of the performance broke, Chrisette has received both a large amount of backlash and support. Most recently, India.Arie wrote an open letter to defend her choice to perform. India.Arie asserts that while she would “never” have performed herself, she doesn’t believe Chrisette deserves the backlash that she has received. This president has been called divisive, but is he so divisive that he will divide the music world also? I would like for it all to stop before one of my favorite artists gets involved and I’m forced to smash all of their CDs. I love India.Arie, please tread lightly.
